Job Description
The Masagana Corporation, DBA: Oriental Restaurant is looking to fill 4 Line Cook positions. Worksite: 13 Mill Street, Brunswick, Maine 04011. This is a temporary, full-time peak load position from 11/01/2021 to 07/01/2022.
Duties: Responsible for preparing ingredients at the restaurant, processing customer orders,
producing meals, and cleaning their workspace throughout the day to follow health and safety
guidelines. Cooks follow recipes consistently, make adjustments based on customer requests,
communicate with wait staff, and prepare garnishes to make an attractive presentation for each meal.
Cooks are responsible for delivering food that is not only delicious and cooked to the specifications
of the customer but that is safe and fresh as well.
Requirements: Must show proof of legal authority to work in the U.S. Must perform physical
activities such as a stand for long periods of time, lift, balance, walk, push, pull and carry objects up to
40 lbs. Must have a minimum of 3 months restaurant cooking experience. A high school education or
equivalent is required and experience in Filipino cuisine is preferred but not necessary.
Terms & Conditions of Employment: H-2B workers will be paid $15.36 per hour and OT $23.04
per hour. The wage offered equals or exceeds the highest of the prevailing wage or the Federal,
State, or local minimum wage. Overtime will be available to these workers as needed.
Possible daily/weekly hours: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM. 36 to 40 hours to include a lunch break, Monday
thru Sunday. (Overtime is possible, but not required or guaranteed. If overtime is worked, the wage is
paid at a rate of time and a half per hour worked beyond 40 hours each week.) Hours may fluctuate
based on peaks and valleys throughout the season (+/-), possible downtime, and/or overtime. This
employer will also comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws pertaining to overtime
hours.
Training: Onsite job training will be provided.
Transportation: Transportation and subsistence will be reimbursed by check within the first work
week for the cost of travel from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer,
whether in the U.S. or abroad, to the place of employment if the worker completes 50 percent of the
period of employment covered by the job order.
Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide
or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the
place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to
subsequent employment with another employer or is dismissed from employment for any reason by
the employer before the end of the period. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement
will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved.
Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $12.68 per day during travel to a maximum of $55.00
per day with receipts.
Lodging
Employer will offer applicants the option of board/lodging at The Schooner Inn on 302 Bath Road,
Wiscasset, ME, 04578 at the rate of $200/week, $800/month and intends to assist workers with
securing such lodging as needed. If applicable, lodging will be deducted from employee earnings.
Fringe benefits or other assistance to be provided
Applicants will be offered daily transportation to and from site of employment in Brunswick, Maine to
The Schooner Inn in Wiscasset, Maine.
Lunch and Dinner meals will be provided to the applicants during their stay at no cost to them.
3/4s Guarantee: The worker is guaranteed employment for a total number of work hours equal to at
least three-fourths of the workdays of each 12-week period.
Tools, equipment & supplies: All work will be done with employer-provided tools, supplies and
equipment without charge or deposit charge.
Miscellaneous: Will use a single workweek as its standard computing wages due. Wage is paid
every week. All deductions required by law will be done by the employer. Employer will reimburse the
H-2B worker in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, boarder crossing, and other related
fees (excluding passport fees), including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B
worker.
